Celebrate Advent and the joyful coming of the Christmas season with the Capuchin friars for Carols with the Capuchins. We will host a festive afternoon of scripture, prayer and song to get ready for the incarnation of Jesus at Christmas.
This year marks the 800th anniversary of the first Nativity scene in recorded history when St. Francis celebrated Christmas Eve Mass in the town of Greccio, a day’s journey on foot from his hometown of Assisi, Italy. St. Francis asked that a creche be built for the Child of Bethlehem, and an ox and a donkey be brought to complete the Nativity scene.
The saint of God stood before the manger, uttering sighs, overcome with love, and filled with a wonderful happiness. Thomas of Celano. First Life of St. Francis, 85.
There is no cost to attend, but free-will donations are welcome.
